T3 - means of culture

T3 - means of culture (T3 - kultúrny prostriedok) is an independent multi-genre cultural centre established in 2017. Housed in a decommissioned T3 tram carriage, it was based at Trnavské mýto in Bratislava from 2017-2021, before moving to its current location on Tyršovo nábrežie in Bratislava after a brief stop at the Pohoda festival in Trenčín.

Since 2017, T3 - means of culture has organised more than 500 events, mainly concerts, exhibitions, author readings, film screenings, theaters, discussions and multi-genre events.

Events are held both inside the carriage and outdoors, with the positioning of performers and audiences implemented in a number of ways depending on the type of production, with capacity ranging between 25-250 visitors.

During more than 5 years of existence, T3 has built an international reputation among artists, an active community of visitors and, thanks to the new space, which allows for events with a larger capacity, it continues with its growth, with around 10,000 visitors attending events at T3 during 2022.

T3's main aim is to present and popularize innovative, experimental and young work. The primary focus is on improvised and experimental music, experimental electronics, free jazz, noise, contemporary and inventive approaches to world music, sound art or genre-breaking and genre-expanding music, taking into account its performative qualities or expanding the possibilities of artistic expression, contemporary poetry, site-specific installations responding to the relationship between man, nature and the city, or chamber theater and performative performances working with the specificities of the space of the cultural center.

Through its specific spatial layout, T3 seeks to popularize work that is commonly considered more challenging, trying to create conditions for new possibilities of perceiving, interpreting or experiencing the works, as well as the artists' direct response to the given space.

T3 - means of culture is an anti-fascist space that recognizes the social power of art. It actively responds to current social issues and themes and reflects them in its programme. It supports and acts in defence of marginalised groups and is a member of the nationwide platform of independent cultural centres Anténa - a network for independent culture.
